Searching for hope?
Have you ever heard of a person on their deathbed asking to see their stock portfolio or possessions one more time? Do you assign too much importance to the things that are stressing you out; things that, in the end, will be of little consequence?
Jesus said that no matter how good or bad your life is going, God has a better plan for you. Instead of worrying, you can turn to Him for all your needs. Like a good parent, He gives rest and security from the troubles of the world and the busyness of life.
God, who is holy (perfect, pure, flawless), created a perfect world and a perfect way by which we could live in a perfect relationship with Him and others. However, rather than trusting His plan, we choose to go our own way by following our own plans, which are always less-than-perfect. This is called sin. It separates us from Him as we choose to go our way instead of His. Separation from God leads to eternal death, which means eternal separation from Him and no opportunity to have eternal life with Him.
Yet, God loves us too much to let us die an earthly death and not live on in eternity in Heaven with him. You see, in His world, there is no death, tears, pain, anxiety, fear or lack of provision. In His world, we will live only the good life, without the stress and frustration we experience here.
Since all of us, at some time, has chosen our imperfect way instead of His perfect plan, since all us have broken His commands and have sinned and have fallen short of His holiness, how do we bridge the gap of separation we have caused by following our path instead of His?
God knows we are helpless to save ourselves. And, yet, He loves us so much that, rather than see us die an eternal death, He offered the only perfect payment worthy of paying the price for the sins that have separated us. It’s Jesus.
That’s right, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth to give His perfect life in exchange for ours. He was the only one who could.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
So, how do you have this relationship? You could say, “Lord, I don’t know the way. But I believe your way is better, and I want to follow it. I have arrived at this crossroad in my life where I believe and confess that you are the Son of God, and I want to know you.”
By praying that you acknowledge this undeserved gift of amazing grace, and by accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord of your life, you will be reconciled to God. All of your sins will be erased. You will be made holy and perfect in His eyes.
God will open the gates of Heaven, allowing you to be in His presence. The penalty of sin, a penalty you could not pay, is paid once and for all so that you will never perish and spend life in eternity with Him.
